Week Four

Quarterback

My favourite player at quarterback in week four is Josh Allen. Allen, valued at £23.0 million, broke out last week throwing for 358 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding another touchdown on the ground himself. In week 3 Allen became the 4th player in NFL history to record multiple games with at least 300 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. He is in great company Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning.  Allen gets the hopeless Houston Texans in week 4 who are currently ranked 23rd to opposing quarterbacks and allowing 8 yards per attempt.

Other options I like at quarterback are Sam Darnold valued at £17.5 million and Matt Ryan valued at £16.9 million. Darnold will be without all-star running back Christian McCaffrey for a few weeks, but I arguably think that makes him a stronger fantasy option. I say that because I expect to see more passing yards from Darnold as a result of it. Darnold has been brilliant since landing in Carolina and this week he gets a Cowboys defence ranked 31 in passing yards given up on the season. Matt Ryan and the Falcons have had a rough start to the season but in week 4 get the pass funnel defence of the Washington Football team. Now I’m under no illusions that the Falcons o-line gives us some concern, but when you have the passing options that Ryan does then he could be in for a huge day against a defence ranked 24th to opposing quarterbacks.

Running Back

My favourite player at running back in week four is Alvin Kamara valued at £19.9 million. Another player who got back on track in week 3 gaining 118 total yards and a touchdown. In week 4 Kamara gets the New York Giants who Kamara went nuts against back in 2018 rushing for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns that day. The Giants currently rank 31st to opposing running backs on the season and are allowing 4.6 yards per carry to the position. The Giants are also giving up multiple touchdowns per game to the position, making Kamara even more of a fantasy star option for week 4.

Other options I like in week 4 are David Montgomery valued at £15.6 million and Johnathan Taylor valued at £15.2 million. Montgomery hasn’t quite got going yet this season but that’s just partly due to the Bears offence. It should change in week 4 as the Bears get the Lions who have given up the most touchdowns to opposing running backs on the season.Taylor leads all NFL running backs in red zone attempts but is not quite punching through which is affecting his fantasy value. In week 4 he gets the Miami Dolphins who rank 28th to opposing running backs and just allowed Payton Barber of all people to rush for 111 yards and a touchdown against them.

Wide Receiver

My favourite player at wide receiver in week four is Odell Beckham JR valued at £14.0 million. Beckham had his first game of the season last week against the Bears, hauling in 5 catches for 77 yards. It was good to see the wide out back and looking back to his best. He also showed some chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield, something we did not see last year. Beckham still benefits this week with that Jarvis Landry injury and gets a Vikings defense that’s allowing the 4th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Other options I like at wide receiver for week 4 are Devonta Smith valued at £13.1 million and Robby Anderson valued at £11.1 million. Smith was largely shut down last week in Dallas, largely in part due to all star corner Trevon Diggs. In week 4 he gets a much easier go at it against a Kansas City secondary allowing the 6th most fantasy points the position. Speaking of Trevon Diggs he should shadow Andersons receiver partner DJ Moore this week giving Anderson the nicer matchup in week 4. Anderson will go up against the rest of the Cowboys secondary this week that have allowed 90 or more receiving yards to the second receiving option per game this year. Week 4 could be the get right game that Anderson needs moving forward.

Tight End

My favourite option at tight end for week 4 is Travis Kelce valued at a costly £20.6 million. There’s good reason for Kelce’s high value again this week as he goes up against an Eagles defence that are allowing on average 56.67 yards per game to opposing tight ends. In week 3 the Eagles allowed Dalton Schultz to shred them for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kelce is Mahomes’ go -to guy and has already got 289 yards and 2 touchdowns on the year. He should ball out in week 4.

Other options at tight end for week 4 I like are Dawson Knox valued at £8.8 million. Konx has had somewhat of a breakout in his third year in the NFL. Last week he saw 5 targets for 49 yards and a touchdown, his second of the year. In week 4 Knox gets the Houston Texans who have been awful against the position through weeks. The Texans ranked 31st to the position through 3 weeks offer a chance for Knox to produce another decent fantasy week.

Defence

My favourite option at defence is the New Orleans Saints valued at £9.7 million against the Giants. I can see the Giants being behind by a lot early in this game causing quarterback Daniel Jones to make a ton of throws. The Giants are missing 2 of their wide receiver core this week with injury and the Saints run defense is more than capable of shutting down running back Saquon Barkley. All of this is going to put Jones under distress and I believe force him into costly picks. Did I mention the Saints are the top scoring defense in fantasy through 3 weeks?

Goodluck all
