CJ Cup

A good couple of weeks for me personally on the golf. Sorry i could not drop an article last week but a case of the man flu took me down. Happy to be back this week, let’s get some dollars.

Onto this week and the CJ Cup. This tournament is normally played in South Korea, but due to Covid restrictions the tour stays in Las Vegas for another week. The course itself is 7,431 yards long, a par 72 and the greens are Bent grass. We have a limited field this week with just 78 golfers, but 24 of the top 30 in the world are here. It’s hard to get a gage on key stats to look for around here as it’s a new course on tour, but we have no cut again so all golfers will play all 4 rounds. The course is a desert course with water hazards on 7 holes.

DFS Plays

Collin Morikawa $10,800 – Morikawa rediscovered his form at the Ryder cup after a little slump since winning the Open Championship. He will be popular this week and for good reason as this is his home course. While the course has not been played on tour yet, Morikawa plays it on a regular basis. He should be able to tap into his knowledge on these large greens and gain an advantage from the rest of the field. Important to note that due to recent form others may be off him in smaller fields, a great way for us to gain an early advantage.

Aaron Wise $7,400 – I’ve been on the Wise train for a couple of weeks now, he had an impressive week at the Shriners open last week tied 8th and 26th the week before at the Sanderson Farm championship. He is getting better with the putter also, in his last 5 events Wise has gained 5.42 strokes putting. He has a solid all round game ranked 25th in the world in strokes gained from tee to green. He is on my radar for a win in the not too distant future. Maybe we get it this week?

Jhonattan Vegas $6,300 – Vegas was red hot towards the back end of last season with a second place finish at the Palmetto championship, a course designed by the same person who designed this week. Over his last 36 rounds Vegas ranks 3rd in strokes gained off the tee and has 6 top 20 finishes over his last 10 appearances. He is too cheap this week and may well be the chalk down here at this price but it’s the chalk I’m willing to eat.
